The FA has assured anti-racism campaigners that John Terry will receive a fair and unbiased trial.
The integrity of the Chelsea defender’s hearing had been brought into question following comments from England manager, Roy Hodgson. The 64 year old stated he hoped the charges against the Chelsea man would be unfounded.
Terry faces a hearing after being charged by the FA with using offensive and insulting behaviour towards Queens Park Rangers defender, Anton Ferdinand, including reference to the 27 year old’s colour.
Speaking to SkySports Kick it Out chairman, Lord Ousley confirmed he rang the FA chairman, David Bernstein to seek assurance that it would be a fair trial.
Ousley made the following statement: “I have spoken with FA chairman David Bernstein in relation to comments made by England manager Roy Hodgson.
“He has given me categoric assurance that the independent regulatory process is free from any influence and is indeed independent.”
Should Terry be charged his international career will be under threat, whilst the 31 year old was an integral part of his country’s Euro 2012 campaign this summer, his reputation will be further tarnished. When the same incident brought about a court case against the defender, The FA acted by stripping Terry’s international captaincy. A further charge against him and they may end his international duties all-together.
