Delap was forced off with what looked like a hamstring injury inside the opening 15 minutes of Chelsea's home clash with London rivals Fulham on Saturday. That leaves the Blues with Joao Pedro as their sole senior striker, prompting many fans to call on the west London team to shelve their plans to loan number nine Jackson out to Bayern.

@RaffaRants wrote on X: "Cancel the Jackson deal or bring Isak in."
@CFC_Tommy96 tweeted: "Emergency striker signing pending," and @Itz_Ethrone commented: "They better tell Jackson not to get on that flight."
@OliviaBuzaglo wrote: "Liam Delap holding his hamstring. On the same day Nicolas Jackson has gone to Bayern. You genuinely couldn’t write it."
@CFCMods put: "Liam Delap has pulled his hamstring, we only have one striker at the football club now. Ridiculous," and @CooloPort added: "Club World Cup effect…"
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Concerns have been raised that Chelsea's successful Club World Cup exploits – which reduced the length of their pre-season and summer break – could have a negative knock-on effect on their 2025-26 season. With Delap potentially out for a while, Chelsea cannot afford to lose team-mate Pedro as well. It remains to be seen if Chelsea will try and sign some injury cover, keep Jackson, or gamble on Pedro staying fit.
