Back in January, The Guardian’s Ed Aarons revealed that QPR’s flamboyant star Ebere Eze was on Crystal Palace’s shortlist, while another report from the beginning of February suggested that the Eagles will ‘keep checking’ on the playmaker.
We recently detailed how he may have left the south Londoners’ Sporting Director Dougie Freedman drooling with a phenomenal display against Huddersfield, in which he embarked on seven dribbles and won five fouls despite being on the losing side.
A 0-0 draw with Swansea followed, but last time out against Stoke, the former Millwall man was back to his best.
Eze – who was described as having an “expressive, flair-driven style” in a recent interview with The Independent – grabbed an equaliser for the R’s before they eventually went on to win 4-2 at the Kiyan Price Foundation Stadium, having trailed 2-0 to the Potters.
Throughout the inspiration comeback victory, the 21-year-old – who now has 11 goals and six assists for the campaign – had three shots, with two on target, while he also registered one key pass.
QPR’s No.10 also embarked on a dribble and was fouled twice, while he also attempted four crosses – only two other players on the pitch attempted more.
He also completed 92.3% of his passes, which was the best completion rate of any QPR player and one that was only bettered by Wales international Joe Allen.
17 goals involvements in the Championship this term, and a whopping eight WhoScored Man of the Match awards from 33 outings, is not to be sniffed at – the eccentric Londoner is having a scintillating season under Mark Warburton.
Premier League Inflation: You won’t believe how much these famous transfers would cost today…
Players like Eze can sometimes be nothing but mere flashes in the pan, although it is the midfielder’s consistency which is most appealing above all the great work he is doing this season.
If Freedman was watching this fixture, we presume that the Scot would’ve been left impressed once again.
In other news, Andros Townsend has offered a heartwarming gesture to a supporter on Twitter…
