City are facing 115 charges for alleged breaches of Premier League financial rules, with the hearing into this matter currently underway. He said on : “When I see teams who bring the most money in, and I see City above Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Man Utd… that's nonsense. I don't care how successful Man City are, that can't happen. It's impossible.”
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Some of the allegations against City claim the club's owners used inflated sponsorship deals to help fund transfers and hide player salaries. Incidentally, in early 2023, analysis by Deloitte found that City were the highest revenue generating football team – ahead of the mighty Madrid. While Los Blancos have overtaken them since, the Cityzens are ostensibly one of the most lucrative clubs in the world. Whether they did it fairly or not will come to light in this ongoing trial.
